WAFCON 2026: Super Falcons Edge Tanzania In Warm-Up Clash

Super Falcons continued their preparations for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tanzania in a warm-up match, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The nine-time African champions took the lead in the 15th minute through captain Rasheedat Ajibade, who finished calmly to give Nigeria an early advantage.

Tanzania responded with an equaliser to ensure the contest remained finely balanced for most of the game.

However, Esther Okoronkwo emerged as the match winner, netting a late goal in the 89th minute to hand the Super Falcons a deserved victory.

The friendly forms part of Nigeria's build-up to the 2026 WAFCON in Morocco, where the team will be aiming to reclaim the continental title. 

The win will provide a confidence boost for the Super Falcons as they continue fine-tuning preparations ahead of the tournament.
