WAFCON 2026: Super Falcons Group Opponents Participate In Mini-Tournament

As part of preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), Malawi’s women national team will participate in a mini-tournament in Tanzania ahead of their clash with Nigeria’s Super Falcons, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Malawi have been drawn in the same group with Nigeria, Egypt and Zambia for the forthcoming competition and are intensifying efforts to prepare adequately for the tournament.

The mini-tournament in Tanzania is expected to provide the team with quality competitive matches as they gear up for the continental showpiece.

During the competition, Malawi will face Ghana and hosts Tanzania in friendly fixtures aimed at assessing the team’s readiness and improving squad cohesion before the start of WAFCON 2026.

The tournament is also expected to help the Malawian side fine-tune tactics and build confidence ahead of the tough group stage encounters against some of Africa’s top women’s football nations, including nine-time champions Nigeria.
