WAFCON 2026: We Are Ready For The Mission – Nnadozie
Sampson Adedeji
Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie has declared that the team is ready for the task of defending their title at the upcoming 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Nigerian shot-stopper expressed confidence in the squad’s preparation and unity as they gear up for the continental tournament, stressing that the team remains focused on achieving its objectives step by step.
“First of all, I would say the girls have been communicating. We have a group chat where we have been discussing everything,” Nnadozie said while speaking to AYSuga Channel.
She added that the team is determined not to look too far ahead in the competition but to approach each stage with focus and discipline.
“It’s just something we want to take one step at a time. We don’t want to think about the semifinals, quarterfinals or the final. The mission is to qualify for the World Cup,” she stated.
The goalkeeper also acknowledged the pressure that comes with representing Nigeria women's national football team, noting that many African teams are eager to dethrone the reigning champions.
“I believe in the girls. I know every team wants to beat Nigeria. We’ve been Africa’s best for a very long time.
Every team wants to be there, they want to be in that number one spot, but it’s not going to be easy. Anybody who wants to be there has to work hard for it,” Nnadozie added.
