Ahead of the 2026 Women's African Cup of Nations qualifier, the Ivorian Football Federation has named Frenchman Reynald Pedros as the new head coach of the Ivorian women's national team, also known as the Female Elephants, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Pedros, who was previously dismissed as head coach of Morocco's Atlas Lionesses after guiding them to the final of the last WAFCON, was appointed to lead the Ivorian team on Tuesday.

The 53-year-old French coach's appointment aligns with the Ivorian leadership's goal to restore the Female Elephants to prominence on the international stage.

The team has not participated in a major competition for several years, missing out on the last four editions of WAFCON.
