WAFU B U17: Minister of Sports To Host Victorious Golden Eaglets On Tuesday

Sunday Dare, Nigeria’s Minister of Youth and Sports Development, will host members of the victorious Golden Eaglets squad to the WAFU U17 tournament tomorrow (Tuesday), BSNSports.com.ng can report..


The Golden Eaglets beat Burkina Faso 2-1 in Friday’s final of the WAFU tournament in Cape Coast, Ghana.


The Minister had hailed the team's efforts immediately after their resounding successes in Ghana, commending them for doing the nation proud.


The Minister who visited the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) World Athletics Championship and Commonwealth Games Trials in Edo immediately he returned from the tour with the President, Muhammadu Buhari in Kigali, Rwanda will host the team at the VIP Lounge of the Moshood Abiola Stadium Abuja at 10:00 am.


The Golden Eaglets beat the hosts, Ghana 4-2 in the opener, defeated Togo 3-1 in the last group game before handed the same goal line (3-1) to Côte d'Ivoire in the semi-final. In the final, the five-time World champions outscored Burkina Faso 2-1. Both finalists will represent the sub-region in the CAF U17 African Nations Cup coming up in Algeria in March 2023.
