WAFU B U17 Championship: Golden Eaglets Open Abuja Camp With 62 Players

Nigeria's U17 head coach, Uwejamomere Eboboritse, has invited 62 players to the Golden Eaglets' training camp as preparations begin for the 2026 WAFU B U17 Championship, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The provisional squad comprises five goalkeepers, 18 defenders, 20 midfielders and 19 forwards, with players drawn from academies and clubs across the country.

All invited players have been instructed to report to the team's training camp in Abuja, where Eboboritse and his assistants, Kalli Mohammed Kachalla and Abdullahi Isa, will begin the screening and assessment process ahead of the regional tournament scheduled for October.

The technical crew faces the task of assembling a competitive squad capable of maintaining Nigeria's proud tradition at youth level. The Golden Eaglets remain the most successful nation in FIFA U17 World Cup history, having won the global title a record five times.

The WAFU B U17 Championship serves as an important platform for identifying emerging talent and, depending on the competition format, could also provide qualification opportunities for continental tournaments.
