WAFU-B U17 Championship: Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets Set to Face Benin’s Baby Cheetahs in Yamoussoukro

Five-time world champions Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets will kick off their campaign for another title against the Baby Cheetahs of Benin Republic on Wednesday in Yamoussoukro. The match, part of the ongoing WAFU-B U17 Championship, will take place at the Stade du Lycée Scientifique.
The tournament, hosted in the Ivorian city, serves as the qualifying competition for the 2026 Africa U17 Cup of Nations. The event will determine Africa’s representatives for the FIFA U17 World Cup finals scheduled for next year in Qatar.
In Group A action, Côte d’Ivoire secured a 2-0 victory over Niger Republic, while Togo and Ghana played out a 1-1 draw in matches that kicked off the weekend.
Group B competition began with Burkina Faso’s Baby Stallions narrowly edging Benin 1-0 in the opening match of the three-team group. Group A features Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Niger Republic.
