By Admin
The head coach of the Nigeria Flying Eagles, Aliyu Zubairu, has expressed confidence that his team will deliver a much-improved performance in the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B qualifiers in Togo.
Despite losing their opening match against Burkina Faso, the Flying Eagles bounced back with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Cote d'Ivoire.
This win secured their place at the top of Group B and qualified them for a semi-final tie against Niger Republic.
Ahead of their clash with Niger Republic, Zubair explained the reasons behind the team's initial struggles.
"First game at any tournament is always like that. Players become jittery and panicking but there was improvement in the second game" Zubair told Brila FM
The El-Kanmei Warriors coach believed that the Flying Eagles will be a stronger team in the semi-finals.
He emphasised the team's growth and development throughout the tournament.
"In the semi-finals against Niger Republic we will see a better Nigerian team," he confirmed.
A win against the Niger Republic will secure the Flying Eagles a place at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations, which will serve as the qualifiers for the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Chile.
