WAFU B U20: NFF Showers Dollars On Victorious Flying Eagles

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday showered Two thousand and four hundred US dollar ($2,400) on each player of the Flying Eagles as take home for winning the West African Football Union WAFU U20 in Niger Republic, BSNSports.com.ng can authoritatively report.


Flying Eagles defeated their arch-rivals, Ghana 2-0 in the group B opening match before a 2-2 draw with Burkina Faso. A dying minute penalty converted by Yahaya saw off Young Elephants of Côte d'Ivoire in the semi-final before winning Benin Republic 3-1 in the final.


The 2022 edition won by the seven-time African champions was the first since the inception of the tournament in 2018.

Despite attracting highest number of sponsors, the Amaju Pinnick -led NFF cancelled the bonus and allowances of all under-aged national teams but said team that emerge event champions would be compesated . However, promises were kept as players smile to their different homes as Sixty thousand (N60,000) Naira was given as flight fares.


Nigeria and Benin Republic have qualified for the CAF U20 African Nations Cup coming up in Egypt.
