WAFU B U20: Victorious Flying Eagles Arrive Nigeria

The West African Football Union (WAFU) B U20 champions, Flying Eagles arrived Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in the early hours on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng can report.


Flying Eagles thrashed Benin Republic 3-1 in the final to lift the trophy for the first time since 2018. The Ladan Bosso-led team had beaten the defending champions, Ghana in their first group game before a 1-1 draw with Burkina Faso. Nigeria outscored Côte d'Ivoire 2-1 in the semi-final and lifted the trophy with a 3-1 victory over Benin on Friday night in Niamey, Niger Republic.


The West African Football champions alongside the runners up, Benin Republic have qualified for the 2023 U20 African Nations Cup coming up in Egypt. 


On arrival, the Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, Sanusi Mohammed was at the airport to receive the team.


The seven-time African champions will on Monday visit the Minister of Sports in his office in Abuja.
