The West African Football Union (WAFU) U20 B men's Cup of Nations will kick off in Abidjan on Friday, July 7, 2023; without the Flying Eagles of Nigeria, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

Recall Nigeria pulled out of the sub-regional football championship owing to contingency.

General Secretary of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Sanusi Mohammed confirmed the withdrawal of the World Cup quarter-finalist.

"The players just returned from the World Cup and went home to rest. We can't recall them now to embark on another tournament that will not serve as a qualifier for any competition."

Host Cote D’Ivoire are paired with Ghana, Niger, and Burkina Faso in Group A while Togo square off with Benin in Group B following the withdrawal of Nigeria.

The tournament is scheduled for Abidjan from July 7-21, 2023.
