WAFU B Women’s Champions League: Police Ladies Coach Rates Bayelsa Queens High

Ghana Women’s League champions, Police Ladies, head coach Yusif Basigi, has acknowledged the strength of Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens ahead of the upcoming WAFU B Women’s Champions League qualifiers, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Ghanaian champions were drawn in Group B alongside Bayelsa Queens of Nigeria, Association Sportive de la Kozah of Togo, and Sam Nelly FC of Benin.

Speaking on the draw, Basigi described Group B as the toughest in the qualifiers. “For me, the draw is fair, but our group is the toughest,” he told SportyFM.

“Bayelsa Queens are a big team, but every club here has earned the right to compete. We’ll approach it match by match, with the target of reaching the main tournament.”

Basigi, who previously guided Hasaacas Ladies to a runners-up finish in the maiden CAF Women’s Champions League and has also managed Ghana’s national women’s teams, will be banking on his experience to lead Police Ladies past the group stage.

To qualify for the finals later this year, where Africa’s top women’s clubs will clash, Police Ladies must either finish as group leaders or secure one of the best runner-up spots.

The WAFU B qualifiers are scheduled to run from August 23 to September in Côte d’Ivoire.
