Black Satellites captain Aziz Misbau was named Man of the Match after a standout performance in Ghana’s 1-1 draw with Nigeria in the opening fixture of the 2025 WAFU Zone B U20 Championship, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The influential forward opened the scoring with a thunderous strike into the roof of the net, putting Ghana ahead early at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.

His goal set the tone for a fiercely contested clash between two of West Africa’s youth football powerhouses.

Beyond his goal, Misbau stamped his authority across the pitch dictating the tempo, breaking up Nigerian attacks, and displaying composure under pressure. His leadership and all-round performance were pivotal as Ghana matched Nigeria’s intensity and physicality throughout the encounter.

Nigeria eventually leveled in the second half through a well-placed header by Abdullahi Muhammed, but it wasn’t enough to deny Misbau the MVP honours.
