Denmark’s Anders Lind transformed last year’s heartbreak into glory, storming to victory in the men’s singles at the 2025 WTT Contender Lagos, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Japan’s Honoka Hashimoto also shone brightly, dethroning defending champion Sreeja Akula of India to capture the women’s singles title on Saturday, July 26, at the Molade Okoya-Thomas Hall, Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos.
Lind produced a commanding performance to overcome Croatia’s Tomislav Pucar 4-1 (11-4, 13-11, 10-12, 13-11, 11-7), delighting the Lagos crowd with his precision and power play.
In the women’s final, Hashimoto displayed her trademark defensive brilliance to dispatch Akula 4-1 (11-7, 11-3, 11-4, 9-11, 13-11), cementing her spot at the top of the podium. In doubles action, South Korea’s Kim Nayeong and Ryu Hanna battled to a narrow 3-2 victory over Egypt’s Hana Goda and Dina Meshref in the women’s doubles final.
India retained their men’s doubles crown with a new partnership, as Sathiyan Gnanasekaran and Akash Pal cruised past France’s Leo De Nodrest and Jules Rolland 3-0 (11-9, 11-4, 11-9) in a dominant display.
