The 2025 WTT Contender Lagos is set to light up Nigeria’s commercial capital as some of the world’s top table tennis stars converge for the prestigious event from July 22 to 26, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Organisers have confirmed a significant prize money boost, with this year’s edition offering $100,000 up from the previous $75,000 alongside an impressive line-up of global talents.

Leading the charge in the women’s singles is Japan’s world No. 9 Hina Hayata, African champion Hana Goda of Egypt, and France’s rising sensation Prithika Pavade.

The men’s singles will see the return of Danish star Anders Lind, eager to finally clinch the Lagos title after previous near misses.

Nigeria’s own Quadri Aruna, who missed last year’s tournament due to club commitments, is set to delight home fans with his participation.

Croatian powerhouse Tomislav Pucar, Japanese prodigy Yuta Tanaka, and Africa’s top junior, Tunisia’s Wassim Essid, are also confirmed.

Competitors will battle across five categories: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.

Winners in each category will earn 400 valuable ranking points as the Lagos tournament continues to cement its reputation as one of the most thrilling events on the WTT Contender Series circuit.
