Wage Delay Sparks Speculation Over Osimhen’s Galatasaray Stay

Turkish champions Galatasaray S.K. are reportedly owing Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen ₦2.8 billion in unpaid wages, covering the months of January and February, raising fresh concerns about the striker’s future at the club, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Osimhen completed a high-profile permanent transfer from SSC Napoli in the summer of 2025 for a reported fee of €75 million. The 26-year-old signed a lucrative contract said to be worth approximately €21 million (about ₦33 billion) per annum.

The deal reportedly includes a net annual salary of €15 million, a €1 million loyalty bonus, and €5 million in image rights payments — making him the highest-paid player in the Turkish Super League.

However, reports emerging after the close of the recent transfer window indicate that Osimhen has yet to receive two months’ salary. Speculation intensified following his omission from Galatasaray’s squad in their 2–0 away defeat to Konyaspor last weekend.

The Nigerian international played a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s title-winning campaign last season, scoring 35 goals to power the Istanbul side to Turkish Super League glory.

His recent absence has fuelled widespread speculation on social media, with suggestions that delayed payments may be linked to his non-selection. The development has also raised broader questions about his long-term future at the club.

Sources indicate that Osimhen could consider leaving Galatasaray at the end of the season if the situation remains unresolved.
