By Admin

Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, has left the Super Falcons behind in Brisbane, Australia after the team lost their quarterfinal ticket to England at the ongoing FIFA Women's World Cup, BSN sports.com.ng reports.

There have been pressure from different quarters mounted on the Nigeria Football Federation over settlement of backlogs of unpaid allowance and bonuses by the federation.

The Super Falcons on Monday morning failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage when Three Lionesses were reduced to 10 in their Round of 16 tie against England. The nine-time African champions eventually lost 2-4 on penalties.

Waldrum, according to Prompt News, left the team’s hotel a few hours after their elimination to catch the next available flight back to the United States of America.

According to camp sources, the players and backroom were still asleep when the gaffer left the hotel.

The 66-year-old left with the diaspora players, including Deborah Abiodun, Ifeoma Onumonu, Jennifer Echegini and Esther Okoronkwo.

The other players who left with the American are, Michelle Alozie, Toni Payne and Yewande Balogun.

The remaining players and other backroom staff are expected to start leaving for Nigeria on Wednesday.

The coach few days to the commencement of the world cup had told his employer (NFF) to pay the two years outstanding they are owing the players.

Waldrum has expressed his desire to stay on as Super Falcons head coach despite discord with the federation in the buildup to the World Cup.
