By Gbenga Gboyega
Rivers United's reliable defender, Ebube Duru has said that his team mates are well motivated to beat Young African in their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final tie slated for Sunday at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, in Uyo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
He added that the team know what is at stake, hence all hands would be on the deck to go past the Tanzanian side come 2pm on Sunday.
"We know what is at stake, this is the first time for Rivers United coming into the Quarterfinals of the CAF Confederation Cup.
"And this is a team we've played before, last year in the qualification round in the CAF Champions League, and we were lucky to beat them home and away, so it will be like a revenge for them.
"So we know what is at stake and everybody is fully focused.
The 23-year-old who completed a move from Lobi Stars on a free transfer two years ago relished the high spirits within the team, and noted the objective ahead.
"The motivation is there, we're motivating ourselves because we know we have a huge task come on Sunday.
"And we know we are not just representing Rivers State, we're representing Nigeria as a country, so we have to come out, do our best, and make sure we get the maximum victory."
Ebube understood the importance of getting a positive result in Port Harcourt, which will set the tone for the return leg scheduled in a week's time.
"We know scoring more goals at home will help us before the second leg.
"And I know that by God's grace, with training and all we've been putting through, I know definitely come on Sunday we are going to give our best and get the desired victory we require."
The State of Uyo is poised to host the Continental clash at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Sunday by 2 pm Nigerian time.
Rivers qualified from Group B alongside ASEC Memosas to secure a spot in the final 8, and would host their opponent at home for the first leg before going away for the return fixture.
