Werder Bremen midfielder Jens Stage has expressed optimism over the return of Victor Boniface as the club battles to avoid relegation, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigerian forward has been sidelined for several months due to injury, with the team struggling in his absence during a crucial phase of the season.

However, Boniface has now returned to training this week and is expected to play a role as the Green and White intensify their fight to remain in the Bundesliga.

Speaking to the club’s media, Stage highlighted the importance of Boniface’s return to the squad.

“I haven’t seen him yet, but I hope he comes in a good mood, gets fit quickly and can help us on the pitch,” Stage said.

“He perhaps has the greatest potential in the squad. He’s a really good footballer and popular in the dressing room. He’s a cool guy, and we need good footballers.”

Werder Bremen currently sit 14th in the league standings with 28 points from 27 matches, as they continue their push to steer clear of the relegation zone.
