By Chidi-Ebere .O. Moneme

Nigeria International Player, Ahmed Musa has been excluded from the Super Eagles of Nigeria CHAN team to face Ghana in the scheduled Africa Nations Championship qualifiers due to eligibility reasons, reports bsnsports.com.ng

The immediate past Skipper of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, returned home to re - join an NPFL side, Kano Pillars FC on a short term deal, after years of playing abroad.

He was expected to be included in the team for the qualifier games of the CHAN Tourment, which is meant for players playing in their domestic leagues and on the continent.

The Interim Senior National Team Coach, Augustine 'Cerezo" Eguavoen released his CHAN team list of invited players, without the former Leicester City striker included, thereby raising questions.

Ahmed Musa could not make the list due to CAF"S Eligibility rules for the Africa Nations Championship, as cited in Article 38 : 16 of the regulations.

According to Article 38 : 2, only players with a permanent contract contract, registered by a local club, affiliated to their National Association are eligible to participate in the African Nations Championship.

This means that Ahmed Musa's short term deal with Kano Pillars disqualified him from participating in the qualifiers games next month.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria CHAN Eagles led by Ex International, Coach Austin' Cerezo Eguavoen have opened camp as preparations have began for the two legged game in October 2024.

It will be recalled that Ghana defeated Nigeria to qualify for the last edition of the competition in Abidjan last year and will be hoping to make a return to the tournament in 2025.
