Why FIFA Ordered Senegal To Remove Second Star From World Cup Jersey

World football governing body, FIFA, has directed Senegal to remove the second star placed on their national team jersey, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The directive comes amid ongoing controversy surrounding Senegal’s status as African champions following the recent decision by the Confederation of African Football Appeal Committee.
Traditionally, stars displayed on national team jerseys represent the number of major titles won by a country, particularly continental or global competitions.
Senegal had added a second star after claiming victory at the last Africa Cup of Nations staged in Morocco.
However, that triumph was annulled last week after the CAF Appeal Committee stripped Senegal of the title, a development that has sparked widespread debate across the continent.
Following the ruling, FIFA has now moved to enforce compliance with official records by instructing the Senegal national football team to revert to a single star on their kit.
The decision is expected to further fuel discussions around the controversial AFCON verdict, with tensions still lingering between the parties involved.
