Why NFF Supports FCT FA Inter-Area Council Women's Tournament - Gusau

President, Nigeria Football Federation, Ibrahim Gusau has promised that the federation will give total support to the FCT Football Association to make the next edition of FCT FA Inter-Area Council Women's Football Tournament bigger than the maiden edition that ended on Sunday, 27th April, 2025. Gusau a Special Guest at the final at the FIFA Goal Project Abuja was impressed with the Chair lady of FCT FA Women's Football Committee, Pat Ayegba for her investment in women's grassroots football. Stating why NFF supports and will continue to give support to the event, Gusau said his passion for grassroots football development was the reason behind supports lending to all individuals with such initiatives.

Speaking with BSN Sports after the final match, Gusau said, "I am happy to be here today. In fact when Pat Aiyegba met me in the office to tell me that FCT FA orgainsed a tournament for young girls in all six Area Council's in Abuja. I noticed her passion and said this is kind of people we are looking for especially when it comes to nurturing women's football which we have never had before. 

He continued, "So I promised the NFF will support her and promised to attend the final. The tournament was well organized. Part of my Campaign promises is to develop football at the grassroots and that's why I felt it's important for me to be at this venue and I will be everywhere people are doing the right thing to support them.

"I want to assure you that we will do everything to make sure this competition is sustained and become an annual event. By the grace of God, next edition will be bigger."

AMAC pipped Gwagwalada Area Council 1-0 in the final to emerge champions of the 2025 FCT FA Inter-Area Council women's football tournament.
