Why Royal Antwerp Signed Ilenikhena- Overmars

The Sporting Director of Belgian Jupiler League champion Royal Antwerp Marc Overmars has revealed the reason they opted for Nigerian youngster George Ilenikhena instead of a much-established attacker, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Reds announced the acquisition of the 16-year-old Nigerian from French Ligue Two side Amiens SC on a 4-year deal.

"George is known as a great talent and we have been following him for a long time and we are therefore pleased that he has signed for RAFC.

It says something that he wants to continue his career in Belgium because there is a lot of interest from foreign clubs.

With us he gets the time and space to develop further in the shadow of Victor Jansen", he said.
