Sturm Graz Managing Director Sports Andreas Schickersays has given reasons why the Austrian club signed Nigeria-born goalkeeping talent, Arthur Okonkwo on loan from Arsenal, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
Okonkwo a goalie with a height of 1.99m, spent his entire youth at Arsenal FC. The goalkeeper also made four appearances for England Under-18s, and now wants to prove his skills in the Austrian Bundesliga after leaving English League Two side Crewe Alexandra.
Schickersays said: "Both Arsenal and Arthur himself have given us a clear signal that the move to Sturm Graz is exactly the right step for everyone involved. Arthur is a young, hungry player and fits our profile perfectly - he will help us achieve our goals. With Arthur, we've broadened our team of goalkeepers and I'm confident that we're excellently equipped for the tasks ahead. I would also like to thank Arsenal for the excellent exchange - we are happy that the move went so quickly and Arthur will be on board for the training camp in Turkey."
Arthur Okonkwo too is delighted and is already bubbling over with enthusiasm: "I'm happy to have landed here in Graz at SK Sturm, a big club in Austria. I know that you have big ambitions and goals here - just like me personally, so I am convinced that I am in the right place for the next step in my development. I look forward to getting to know the team and doing my part next spring to ensure maximum success."
