Why Wilfred Ndidi’s Proposed Move to Manchester United Collapsed

By BSN Sports

Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi was recently linked with a return to English football, but a potential transfer ultimately failed to materialise.

According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, Premier League side Manchester United explored the possibility of signing the 29-year-old midfielder from Besiktas. Ndidi, who joined the Turkish giants last summer, was reportedly identified as a viable midfield option as United assessed ways to strengthen their squad.

However, the proposed move did not progress beyond initial interest. The report indicates that Manchester United did not submit a formal offer for the Nigeria international, despite positive internal evaluations.

Besiktas, meanwhile, were unwilling to part with a player they had only recently acquired, further complicating any potential deal. In addition, the recent passing of Ndidi’s father last month reportedly created a sensitive backdrop to discussions, contributing to the cautious nature of any negotiations.

As a result, the midfielder remains with Besiktas, with no immediate transfer expected.
