Women Football Administrators Complete FIFA Capacity-Building Programme in Abuja

The General Secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, MON, has commended participants and facilitators at the conclusion of the three-day FIFA Capacity-Building Workshop for Women Football Administrators, describing the programme as a significant step towards strengthening women's football administration in Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking at the closing ceremony on Sunday in Abuja, Dr. Sanusi said the workshop, organised by the NFF in partnership with FIFA, reflects the Federation's commitment to equipping women with the knowledge and skills required to excel in football administration and governance.

He noted that empowering women to assume leadership positions within the football ecosystem remains a key pillar of the NFF's football development strategy.

Dr. Sanusi congratulated the participants for their dedication throughout the programme and expressed appreciation to the FIFA facilitators and local resource persons for sharing their expertise.

"I want to sincerely congratulate every participant for your commitment and willingness to learn. I also appreciate our FIFA resource persons for the knowledge and expertise they have shared. This programme is not just about earning certificates; it is about applying the lessons learnt to advance women's football in Nigeria. The NFF will continue to support initiatives that build capacity and create opportunities for women in football," he said.

The NFF General Secretary assured participants that the Federation would continue to monitor the implementation of knowledge gained during the workshop while creating additional pathways for women to assume leadership roles across Nigerian football.

He expressed confidence that the programme would help produce a new generation of competent administrators capable of driving the growth and transformation of women's football both on and off the pitch.

The workshop featured intensive sessions on football governance, competition management, marketing, safeguarding and leadership. Participants included representatives of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), NFF staff and other football stakeholders.

The sessions were facilitated by FIFA women's football technical experts Thubaelihle Sibanda and Tsholofelo Setlhoko; NFF Executive Committee Member and FIFA Media Committee member, Ms. Aisha Falode; Professor Mariam Suleiman of Ahmadu Bello University; Dr. Anthonia Uwa, a retired Chief Lecturer at Nwafor Orizu College of Education; and Mr. Mohammed Ammenu, a FIFA-certified Safeguarding Officer and FIFA Technical Instructor in Refereeing.

The workshop was coordinated by the NFF's Director of Competitions and FIFA/CAF Match Commissioner, Ms. Ruth David.

Among those present at the closing ceremony were the NFF Director of Media and Communications, Dr. Ademola Olajire; Deputy Head of Member Association, Alhaji Salisu Abubakar; and club owner, Alhaji Gandi Bala.
