Nigeria’s U20 women’s team, the Falconets, began their campaign at the WAFU B Women’s Cup in style with a 3-1 victory over rivals Ghana on Saturday, BSNSports.com.ng reports

Janet Akeremkowei was the star of the show, scoring twice for Nigeria. She opened the scoring from the penalty spot five minutes before halftime and doubled the lead moments later.

The Black Princesses reduced the deficit early in the second half through Sarah Nyarko, but Favour Nkwocha sealed the win with a superb strike just two minutes from time.

The Falconets will face hosts Benin Republic in their next group match on Sunday morning before a second meeting with Ghana on Tuesday.

The tournament’s final match is scheduled for Wednesday, November 12.
