World Cup 2026: Alleged Sex Scandal Hits Cape Verde Camp

Preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been overshadowed by controversy in the Cape Verde national team camp following reports of an alleged sexual assault involving one of the country’s international players, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to reports from Les Requins Bleus (The Blue Sharks), the incident allegedly occurred during the FIFA Series 2026 tournament held in New Zealand in March.

The report stated that the victim officially filed a complaint on April 10 against a Cape Verde international player, whose identity has not been made public.

The development has sparked concern within Cape Verde football circles ahead of the country’s historic appearance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Cape Verde have been drawn in a difficult Group H alongside Spain, Uruguay, and Saudi Arabia.

The Blue Sharks are scheduled to begin their World Cup campaign against Spain on June 15 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta.
