World Cup 2026: Big Blow! Ghana First-Choice Goalkeeper Ruled Out Of Tournament

Ghana have suffered a major setback at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after first-choice goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi was ruled out of the remainder of the competition due to a groin injury, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The shot-stopper picked up the injury during Ghana’s ongoing campaign and medical assessments have confirmed he will not be fit to return for the rest of the tournament.

The development is a significant blow to the Black Stars’ ambitions as they look to progress deep into the competition.

Ati-Zigi’s absence leaves Ghana short of experience in a key position, forcing the technical team to rely on alternative options between the posts as they adjust their tactical setup for the remaining fixtures.

Ghana, who are competing in the FIFA World Cup 2026, will next face England in a crucial second Group L encounter against the England national football team.

The Black Stars are expected to reassess their defensive structure ahead of the high-stakes clash as they aim to stay competitive in the group stage despite the setback.
