World Cup 2026: Reports Claim Mané, Koulibaly Rift Deepened

During Senegal's Campaign Fresh reports have alleged that tensions between Senegal captain Kalidou Koulibaly and star forward Sadio Mané escalated during the country's 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign, with disagreements over squad selection and fitness issues contributing to a strained atmosphere in the dressing room, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to the reports, Mané was in favour of including defender Malang Sarr in Senegal's World Cup squad, while Koulibaly reportedly opposed the move, leading to a disagreement between the two senior players.

The reports further claim that tensions intensified 24 hours before Senegal clashed with France, when Mané allegedly questioned Koulibaly's fitness and suggested that the defender withdraw from the match.

The proposal would have allowed reserve defender Malang Sarr to be called into the squad. It is alleged that the incident further strained the relationship between the two experienced internationals during Senegal's World Cup campaign.

Neither Mané nor Koulibaly has publicly commented on the reports, while the Senegalese Football Federation has also not issued an official statement regarding the alleged disagreement.
