Tunisia have parted ways with head coach Sabri Lamouchi with immediate effect following the Carthage Eagles' humiliating 5-1 defeat to Sweden in their opening Group F match at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Tunisian Football Federation confirmed the decision after mounting pressure from supporters and officials in the wake of the team's disappointing performance against the Scandinavian side.

Tunisia were comprehensively outplayed by Sweden, suffering one of their heaviest defeats in World Cup history and leaving their hopes of progressing from the group stage hanging by a thread.

Lamouchi's dismissal comes just hours after reports emerged that an emergency meeting had been convened by members of the federation to review the team's poor start to the tournament.

The Carthage Eagles will now turn their attention to appointing an interim coach ahead of their crucial upcoming Group F fixtures as they seek to revive their World Cup campaign.

Tunisia are scheduled to face Japan in their next group game, knowing that another defeat could end their chances of reaching the knockout stages.
