World Cup Playoffs: Chelle Adjusts Final Super Eagles Squad After Fitness Boost for Star Trio
By BSN Sports
Nigeria’s head coach, Eric Chelle, has made final adjustments to the Super Eagles squad ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying playoff against Gabon, following the return of three key players from injury, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
According to reports, the revised list has been submitted to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) but its public release was briefly delayed as the technical crew awaited medical clearance on Samuel Chukwueze, Raphael Onyedika, and Zaidu Sanusi, all of whom were nursing injuries sustained during club duties.
Team officials have now confirmed that the trio has been declared fully fit and available for selection, bolstering Nigeria’s options in both attack and defense ahead of the first leg of the playoff, scheduled for November 13 in Morocco.
A source within the Super Eagles camp revealed that the final squad announcement is expected within the next 48 hours, noting that while a few fresh names may be added, the core of the team will remain consistent with previous line-ups.
The return of Chukwueze, Onyedika, and Sanusi is viewed as a major boost for Chelle, who will be relying on their experience and quality as Nigeria looks to overcome Gabon and stay on course for qualification to the 2026 World Cup, jointly hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The finalized list represents the final phase of the Super Eagles’ preparation, providing clarity for fans and officials as the team intensifies readiness for the high-stakes encounter in Rabat.
