Gabonese midfielder Mario Lemina has thrown his weight behind Nigeria’s Super Eagles and star striker Victor Osimhen ahead of Sunday’s World Cup Playoff final against DR Congo, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Lemina, who currently plays alongside Osimhen at Galatasaray, was one of Gabon’s brightest performers in Thursday’s semi-final clash, scoring the crucial equaliser during regulation time before Nigeria eventually advanced with a 4-1 victory after extra time.

Following the emotional encounter, both players exchanged warm words of respect and brotherhood.

Osimhen wrote: "I love you, brother." In response, Lemina praised the Nigerian striker and expressed commitment to support the Super Eagles in the final.

Lemina replied: "Congratulations! One of us, you or me, would have been upset after the match, and this time it was me. With all my respect and love, brother. I’ll be watching and supporting you from the stands."

The show of sportsmanship has drawn admiration from fans across Africa, highlighting the strong bond between the pair beyond club football.

Nigeria will face DR Congo in the final on Sunday, as both teams battle for the ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
