Super Eagles head coach Eric Sékou Chelle has expressed deep pride in his squad following their hard-fought victory over the Panthers of Gabon in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup playoff series, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Nigeria sealed a dramatic win in extra time, thanks to goals from Bright Ejuke and Victor Osimhen, which secured their passage into Sunday’s crucial final.
Speaking after the match, Chelle applauded the team’s commitment, mentality, and discipline throughout the encounter.
“I am very proud of these guys because every time they are focused on what I ask and what I want, and it shows. The word today was passion. During my speech, it was about passion, about working together to achieve the same objective,” he said.
The Super Eagles boss noted that although the victory was important, his team must quickly shift attention to the next challenge.
“They did it in today’s game, but we have another game in two days. Maybe after that one, we can smile. Since I came, we have tried to work, to create an identity. The sporting project is very important the game project too.”
Nigeria will now face DR Congo in the play-off final, with the winner advancing to the FIFA Inter-Continental Play-Off in March 2026.
