Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle is expected to unveil his final squad for the 2026 World Cup African playoffs on Friday, ahead of the team’s advance delegation departure to Morocco on Saturday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
According to a top Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) official who spoke with The Guardian, invitation letters have already been sent to players’ clubs, with all invited players expected to report directly to camp in Morocco by Monday.
“The players will move straight to Morocco because it’s closer to Europe than Nigeria, which makes logistics easier,” the official explained.
“Some new faces will be making their debut, while a few others are returning after some time away.”
He added that the coaching crew carefully selected the final list after evaluating several options.
“For instance, in an attack, over 10 players were under consideration, but only four could be picked. Those are Victor Osimhen, Akor Adams, Tolu Arokodare, and Paul Onuachu, who’s in fine scoring form in Turkey. Also, midfielder Ebenezer Akinsanmiro, on loan at Pisa from Inter Milan, is among the new inclusions.”
Goalkeeper Maduka Okoye returns to the squad, while Brentford defender Michael Kayode is excluded for now as he remains undecided on whether to represent Nigeria or Italy.
The Super Eagles will face Gabon in their opening playoff match on November 13. Should they advance, they’ll play the winner between Cameroon and DR Congo on November 16 for a place in the inter-confederation playoff.
