Sampson Adedeji
Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has expressed delight with the steady progress his players are making in adapting to his tactical philosophy, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Nigeria displayed remarkable composure and resilience in extra time to overcome a stubborn Gabon side and advance to the World Cup playoffs final.
Speaking after the match, Chelle emphasized that building a clear team identity has been his major focus since taking charge of the national team.
“Like I said, the most important thing is for our team to create an identity. The identity is how we play in defence and how we play in offence,” he stated.
The gaffer added that continuous improvement remains crucial and praised his players for their commitment and mentality.
“This is why we try every time to improve at every FIFA window. Now these guys are improving mentally, technically, and they understand what I want to do for them,” Chelle said.
The Super Eagles will now look ahead to the decisive playoff final where their World Cup dream remains very much alive.
