Fulham midfielder Alex Iwobi has revealed that the Super Eagles are motivated to give their all in the upcoming World Cup playoffs not only for Nigeria, but also for their head coach, Eric Chelle, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Since his appointment, Chelle has successfully built a strong bond and sense of unity within the team, something Iwobi believes has been crucial to their progress and determination.

“Our manager constantly reminds us that we’re able to push through all circumstances,” Iwobi told BBC Sport.

“He’s such a great man. We almost don’t see him as a manager, but as a big brother. He’s created a brotherhood in this team.”

Iwobi also praised Chelle’s passion and energy on the sidelines, saying it inspires the players to give their best.

“You see him on the touchline he gets heated, he’s literally fighting for us. It motivates us. We want to play not just for Nigeria, but for him as well,” the Fulham star added.

The Super Eagles will face Gabon in the semi-final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup African playoffs in Morocco, as they continue their quest for a place in the global showpiece.
