World Cup Qualifier: D’Tigers Suffer Second Consecutive Defeat

Nigeria’s D’Tigers endured another difficult outing in the ongoing 2027 FIBA World Cup African Qualifiers as they slumped to a 69-55 defeat to Guinea on Saturday in Rades, Tunisia, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Coming into the clash after an 88-78 loss to the hosts Tunisia in their opening fixture on Friday, many expected a strong response from the Nigerian side. However, Guinea proved too strong, controlling the encounter from start to finish.

Guinea set the tone early with a commanding first quarter performance, racing to a 22-16 lead. They maintained their dominance in the second and third quarters, extending the scoreline to 35-26 at halftime and 52-41 by the end of the third quarter.

Despite late efforts from D’Tigers to rally back, Guinea held firm and comfortably sealed the victory 69-55.

The defeat leaves Nigeria still searching for their first win in the window, and the team will now face Rwanda in their final group game on Sunday, hoping to salvage pride and end the qualification window on a positive note.
