Nigeria’s D’Tigers suffered a disappointing start to their 2027 FIBA World Cup qualifying campaign after falling 88-78 to Tunisia in their opening Group game on Wednesday in Rades, BSNSports.com.ng reports
The Nigerian team began brightly, edging the first quarter 15-12 and showing early signs of control. However, the Tunisians responded strongly and overturned the deficit to take a 35-32 lead at halftime.
D’Tigers fought back in the third quarter, forcing a 53-53 tie heading into the final stretch. But Tunisia proved more clinical in the closing minutes, dominating the decisive quarter to seal a ten-point victory.
The result places immediate pressure on Nigeria ahead of their subsequent qualifiers, while Tunisia begins their campaign on a winning note in front of their home supporters.
