Super Eagles assistant captain, William Troost-Ekong, has dismissed Zimbabwe’s financial motivation, asserting that it won’t deter Nigeria from securing victory, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

On Thursday, the Zimbabwean government pledged a $150,000 cash reward for the Warriors if they defeat the Super Eagles.

Speaking upon the team's arrival from Rwanda, Ekong acknowledged the incentive but remained confident in Nigeria’s determination to win.

"We read somewhere that the Zimbabweans are being motivated to come to Uyo and get a result. They should forget it," Ekong told thenff.com.

"Our biggest motivation is the ambition to play at the FIFA World Cup. Apart from myself, Alex (Iwobi), and maybe a couple of others who played in 2018, this generation is hungry to compete at the highest level. We want to make Nigeria proud and, at the same time, do ourselves proud."
