Team Nigeria will have another opportunity to secure qualification for the 2026 World Athletics Championships in China after being drawn in Heat 2 of the men’s 4x100m repechage at the ongoing World Relays in Gaborone, Botswana, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Nigeria will compete against Jamaica, Japan, France and Belgium in the race, with the team aiming to book an automatic qualification ticket to the World Championships.

The Nigerian quartet of Favour Ashe, James Taiwo, Tejiri Godwin and Chidera Ezeakor narrowly missed out on qualification during the initial heats after finishing fifth with a Season’s Best time of 38.31 seconds.

Despite the setback, the team still has a chance to qualify through the repechage round, where strong performances will determine the remaining slots for the global championship in China.

Team Nigeria will be hoping to improve on their earlier performance as they battle some of the world’s top sprinting nations for qualification.
