General Manager of NTA Sports, Kayode Adeniyi, has lauded the Executive Committee of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, describing them as "magicians" for their role in restoring unity within the association after a turbulent period.
Adeniyi, a two-time former chairman of FCT SWAN, made the commendation during a courtesy visit by the Exco members to his office at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
"I see you as magicians," Adeniyi said. "It takes true magicians to take over an association after a crisis and steer it towards unity. Your efforts are truly commendable, but I urge you to remain calm, show understanding, and continue working together for the overall betterment of FCT SWAN."
The seasoned administrator further charged the leadership to actively engage veterans and stakeholders to fully heal and strengthen the association. He also emphasized the importance of rebuilding trust among members and creating value-driven opportunities that would reposition FCT SWAN for greater relevance and impact.
"You must reach out to veterans and major players within the sports industry. Reunion is crucial, and achieving it will require deliberate and sustained efforts from all of you," Adeniyi added.
In his remarks, Chairman of FCT SWAN, Kelechi Onwudiwe, congratulated Adeniyi on his appointment as General Manager of NTA Sports, describing the elevation as a fitting recognition of his exemplary leadership and extensive experience.
"Your new role is a perfect reward for the wealth of experience and remarkable leadership qualities you have consistently demonstrated. We are truly inspired by your journey," Onwudiwe said.
He further expressed profound gratitude to Adeniyi for his consistent support since the emergence of the current Exco, while also acknowledging the landmark achievements recorded during his tenure as chairman.
"We sincerely apologize for the belated visit," Onwudiwe added. "You have continued to support us in ways we never imagined, and your commitment to the growth of the association remains evident. We also want to assure you that we will not take your words of advice for granted, as we remain focused on consolidating the gains and repositioning FCT SWAN for greater achievements."
The FCT SWAN delegation on the visit included Vice Chairman Victor Okoye (NAN), Secretary Samuel Ahmadu (Savidnews), Financial Secretary Niyi Busari (BSN Sports), Welfare Officer Joan Iwuchukwu (SportsDay), and Assistant Secretary Friday Joshua (Radio Nigeria).
