Nigerian actress, film producer, model, and television personality - Yvonne Jegede has laid bare her feelings about sports, her favorite Super Eagles player, and why she is proud of the Super Falcons, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Following the Super Falcons' memorable outing at the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, Yvonne has joined the host of plaudits proud of the team's performance post-campaign.

In an interview with the Punch Newspaper Author Peter Akinbo, Yvonne narrated how she followed the Super Falcons games via social media, as her busy schedule deprived her of watching live matches.

"I couldn’t watch them because I was very busy, but I followed them on social media," the '3 is Company' producer narrated.

"I saw the whole drama around Asisat Oshoala taking off her shirt when celebrating her goal and people were hyped about that.

"I was impressed with the Falcons really, they did very well, it was very impressive and I was impressed with them. We are proud of them."

Despite not taking much interest in sports during her childhood, Yvonne revealed she played a little basketball out of rebellion.

"Growing up, I was never really a sports person, I never played sports, apart from when I was being rebellious, and then I used to play basketball in school because we were told not to play basketball.

"I was not good. I don’t think I am good at anything when it comes to sports, but it was just a lot of fun to have back then especially since we were being rebellious."

The 39-year-old actress who hails from Agenebode in Edo State located in the southern part of Nigeria, also named her favorite sports in Nigeria, her favorite domestic club, and her favorite national team player.

"Football is my favorite sport when it comes to Nigeria, and my favorite Nigerian player is Odion Ighalo because he is a senior man in the team.

"Enyimba is also my favorite Nigerian team because they won the Nigeria Professional Football League last season.

"I am always supporting winners. I think Enyimba is the biggest Nigerian team. If you ask me, it is the most popular. For me to even know Enyimba with my small knowledge of sports, that means it must be popular.

"The Super Falcons and the D’Tigress are also doing good and they have my love because they won the Afro Basket title for the fourth year in a row and it was even with a female coach, Rena Wakama.

"I just really like what the women are doing this year, so, football is my favorite sport in Nigeria and then followed by basketball," she added.

Yvonne rose to prominence after she made a cameo appearance in the music video African Queen by 2Face Idibia alongside Annie Macaulay on the artist's debut album 'Face 2 Face' released on May 15th, 2004.

She also graduated with a bachelor's degree in International Relations from the University of Cyprus and starred in various Nollywood movies like Silver Spoon, Okafor's Law, A Night Chic Squad, My Best Friends Wedding, and a host of others.
