Egyptian football giants Zamalek have officially parted ways with head coach Jose Peseiro, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The decision came on the heels of a disappointing 2-2 draw with National Bank.

In a statement released via the club’s official website, Zamalek confirmed: “Zamalek and Jose Peseiro agree to end the relationship by mutual consent. We wish him all the best in the future.”

Peseiro, who previously managed Nigeria’s Super Eagles, was appointed in February.

However, his tenure failed to deliver the expected success. The club crashed out of the CAF Confederation Cup at the quarter-final stage after a defeat to South Africa's Stellenbosch.

On the domestic front, Zamalek currently sit third in the Egyptian Premier League, trailing behind Pyramids FC and Al Ahly.

Under Peseiro's leadership, the team played 17 matches, recording seven wins, eight draws, and two losses.
