Zambia Joins Bid For AFCON

Zambia has joined the race to bid for the hosting of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Sports Minister Elvis Nkandu says President Hakainde Hichilema
has expressed interest in Zambia’s will and ability to host the 35th Edition of Africa biggest football showpiece.
Zambia has joined the likes of Algeria, Burkina Faso and Morocco among countries bidding to host the biennial show piece.
Nkandu told ZNBC Sports News that the President has shown interest by giving his political will and is eager to see Zambia host the AFCON under his reign.
He said the Head of State has directed that it is by bidding to host such continental and regional tournaments that Zambia will expand its sport infrastructure catchment.
NKANDU said his Ministry will now start facilitating the bidding plan with various organizations and stakeholders to see the dream come to fruition.
He said as soon as the 2023 Ivory Coast edition is done, Government will start talks for the 2025 edition.
