Zimbabwe Seek Strong UK Support for Unity Cup Semi-final Vs Super Eagles

The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has called on Zimbabweans living in the United Kingdom to turn out in large numbers and support the Warriors ahead of their Unity Cup semi-final clash against Nigeria’s Super Eagles later this month, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Zimbabwe will take on the three-time African champions at The Valley in London on Tuesday, May 26, with the winner progressing to the final scheduled for Saturday, May 31.

The invitational tournament, which also features India and Jamaica, is aimed at promoting unity through football while giving participating nations the opportunity to assess their squads ahead of future international competitions.

As preparations intensify, Zimbabwe head coach Kaitano Tembo recently unveiled a 24-man squad for the tournament.

In a statement issued via its official social media channels, ZIFA urged members of the Zimbabwean diaspora to create a vibrant atmosphere by filling the stadium in the country’s national colours.

“A night of pride, passion and African football excellence awaits as Zimbabwe’s finest take centre stage in the UK,” the statement read.

“Diaspora family, this is your moment to rally behind the Warriors and paint The Valley in Zimbabwean colours.”

Organisers expect the Unity Cup to attract significant support from African and Caribbean communities across London, with the competition designed to strengthen sporting and cultural ties among the participating nations.

For Nigeria, the tournament presents another opportunity for the Super Eagles to continue building cohesion under their current technical crew, while Zimbabwe will view the encounter as a valuable test against one of Africa’s most successful football nations.
