A former chieftain of the defunct National Sports Commission, NSC, Alhaji Abba Yola has poured encomium on the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare over his decision not to rush hosting of the Edo 2020, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Sunday Dare had said that he will not jeopardise the lives of sportsmen and women by urging Federal Government to lift suspension on sporting activities amidst Covid 19 posing a threat.

"This is a milestone to determine when to start sporting activities, but we will not jeopardise the health and well being of our sportsmen and women." Dare said

Abba Yola took to his Facebook wall to hail the minister saying putting the welfare of the athletes ahead of any other factors defined him as great leader and a father.

"It is indeed heart warning and a great relief to hear the above statement coming from the Honourable Minister.
This attests to the fact that no matter what, the Hon Minister will not be stampeded into taking a decision that borders on jeopardizing human lives and especially our Youths.
He once told me that, he is a very patient person. Taking this decision as hard as it is leaves me in no doubt on his ability for restraint, patience and above all in accepting responsibility as a good father desirous of protecting his children before any expectation." Yola said on Facebook

He prays for a successful hosting when if finally holds later this year.

"I sincerely pray that the waiting will eventually give us a successful NSF and free of any Health challenges when the time comes."

Sunday Dare who received report from Edo 2020 Committee set up a month ago to recommend what can be done to hold a successful 2020 National Sports Festival.
