The former Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi has expressed deep sadness over the sudden passage of the former Secretary General of the Nigerian Football Association (NFA), Mr Taiwo Ogunjobi.
Abdullahi described the death of Ogunjobi as ‘’shocking and a great loss to the country, especially at this time when we require his expertise and experience the most.’’
He recalled that the Late Secretary General of the NFA was a man who embodied the spirit of Nigerian football, having served meritoriously in various capacities in football administration over the last three decades.
Abdullahi said: ‘’the Late Ogunjobi was very resourceful and one of the few Nigerians who I could say lived for sports as he was involved in all aspects of the game. A former footballer, part-time coach, player’s agent, club owner and administrator, the Late Ogunjobi was indeed Mr Football and contributed greatly to the development of the game in Nigeria.
‘’ When I was the Minister of Sports, he often volunteered timely advice to support our work and was eager to contribute towards the development of sports in Nigeria. His death is, no doubt, a big loss to the Nigerian football community and sports in general.
‘’I commiserate with his family, the NFF and the football community, and indeed all Nigerians over the loss of this great sportsman.’’
