Abdurasheed Wins Abuja Table Tennis Open

Abdurasheed Siyaka emerged champion of the 2021 Abuja Table Tennis Open after defeating Orimolade Suraju 4-1 on Sunday.
On the road to final, Rasheed edged Umar Ibrahim 3-2 in a keenly contested first round game before recording another 3-2 victory against Waris Kagbafolorun in the round of 16.
In the semifinal, Waris resurfaced to face Rasheed again, second time in the competition but met a better and well-prepared Rasheed to win (11-8, 11-6, 16-14, 3-11) 3-1 to book the final ticket with Suraju who was defeated 4-1 (11-6, 11-7, 4-11, 11-8, 12-10) to rule the championship.
In the closing ceremony, the champion received Thirty thousand naira (N30,000) with a rubber table tennis bat, the runner-up also smiled to the bank with N30,000 and bag. The third position got Ten thousand and a T-shirt.
Elated Abdulrasheed when speaking with BSN Sports said; "I want to say thank you all for your support since I started my career in 2010.
" I'm from Kogi State and I play table-tennis for Kogi State, representing Kogi State in every competition. I played my last competition in Abuja where I'm based and I emerged the champion in the tournament that lasted for two days.
"I thank God for making it possible for me to emerge first and I felt so great winning the competition. Right now I'm working towards gaining admission in to the university. I have won a lot of competitions both in doubles and singles. I have played a lot of competitions in Abuja.
"And in 2016, I paired with an Igala boy known as Idris and Zakari in Ilorin and we won the gold medal."
