Abia Warriors 1-1 Akwa Starlets: Three Things We Learned

Abia Warriors of Umuahia on Sunday at the Umuahia Township Stadium went toe to toe with Akwa Starlets of Akwa Ibom in one of the NPFL 2019/2020 Season Matchday Seven (7) fixture wherein the highly feisty encounter ended in draw as both team shared the spoil.
The fixture was one of the Star Match of Matchday Seven (7) following the teams recent form and the higly explosive match lived up to its billing
Abia Warriors Oni Jimoh broke the deadlock at the 56th minute just few minutes the teams returned from the tunnel. Akwa Starlets never relented but pressed foward for an equalizer and it was enterprising Archibong Obo who levelled up for the Uyo based clubside.
Now, here’s Three things we learned from the game.
BELLO LUKMAN IS A REAL TALENT.
The former Family Worship Centre FC of Abuja striker showed real class on his debut game for the Umuahia Warlords as he was given a nod to start ahead of Zinte Udeh in the attack.
The tall striker made his presence felt althrough the duration of the game as he was really a thorn in the flesh for the Caleb Esu tutored defence line.
His ability to hold on play upfront as a lone striker and the manner with which he won all aerial duels he contested was simply amazing.
He (Bello) on two occasions came close in recording a debut goal but Akwa Starlets Goalkeeper Edafe pulled brilliant saves to deny the striker his two supposed goals
The tall lanky striker crowned his brilliant debut game with a sumptuous assist off his flick header which found Jimoh Oni who was well positioned and the latter made no mistake and headed Abia Warriors into lead.
AKWA STARLETS YOUTHFUL TEAM IS THE SECRET OF THEIR CURRENT FORM.
The Uyo based side have got tongues wagging in Accolades with their exploits aganist league ‘Big Clubsides’ with the calibre of youthful players they parade.
The Caleb Esu tutored side stunned the duo of Rangers International and Heartland of owerri in their home ground. However, it will be recalled their defeat of Rangers at the cathedral led to the sack of their Coach Ugwu ‘Surugede’ even before the end of match.
The lads mobility and team play aganist Abia Warriors was really a beauty to behold as one could see the passion, commitment and hunger with which the play as they strive to make names for their selfs this season.
The team duo of Archibong Obo and Femi Ajayi mesimirazed and dazzled Abia Warriors defence line, and could have wrecked the Umuahia Warlords on two different occasions if not for the brilliant display of Austina Obarakpo and Parfait jean.
ADEKUNLE ADELEKE DESERVES TO PLAY MORE
The former Go-Round round defender has hardly featured in the two games he has made Matchday squad despite being fit.
The rock solid defender was introduced at 75minutes for Oghenetega Ebetomame and the team formation thus changed as he was drafted to Emeka Isaac position while Isaac was pushed to the midfield role to compliment the effort of Fatai Abdullahi.
Incredibly, Kunle took to the game like he’d never been away as his creativity and the manner with which he ran the channels expertly was a breath of fresh air.
The Centre Referee denied him his penalty appeal as he was hacked down inside the 18yards after dribbling pass his three makers and was even showed a yellow card by the Referee for diving.
